Studies
Gertrud Schilde studied in Munich at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater (University of Music and Performing Arts), in Chicago at the Northern Illinois University Dekalb, in Salzburg at the Universität Mozarteum and also in Sydney, Australia.
In Munich she studied violin under Ana Chumachenco, where she gained her diploma with honours and subsequently completed her “Meisterklasse”. Additional chamber music studies under Michael Schäfer and Franz Beyer among others.
Extended studies in violin and chamber music in Chicago (Shmuel Ashkenasi and the Vermeer-Quartet), in Salzburg, and in Sydney under Uzi Wiesel.
She has participated in international master classes under Herman Krebbers, Valerij Klimov, Saschko Gawriloff and Nicolas Chumachenco to name a few.
Scholarship holder of the Yehudi-Menuhin-Foundation „live music now“ and the “Richard-Wagner-Verband”. Prizewinner at international competitions.
Soloist
Chamber Musician
She has performed as a soloist and chamber musician principally in recitals. She has also been invited to perform throughout Europe, Japan, Korea, Central and South America as well as the United States by the following institutions: Goethe-Institut, Juventudes musicale, ProArte Tokyo, Daigaku Geidai University Tokyo, Elisabeth University Hiroshima, Nagoya College of Music, National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).

Gertrud Schilde has received invitations to perform as a soloist and chamber musician at prestigious international festivals such as the Rheingau-Festival (Germany), Shira Music Festival Eilat (Israel), Bowdoin Summer Music Festival (USA), Baalbek Music Festival (Lebanon), Schubertiade Roskilde (Denmark), Gustav-Mahler-Festival Toblach (Italy), Pasionska Bastina Zagreb (Croatia), Ruhr-Klavier-Festival (Ruhr Piano Festival, Germany), Munich Biennale, ADEvangarde, Festivo, Festspiel+ (Munich Opera Festival), Festival für neue Musik Bayreuth, Jazzfestival Leipzig.
Contemporary Music
Premieres/First Nights
She has performed as concert master with various ensembles playing both contemporary and non European music. She has played with the likes of the Modern String Quartet, Schorsch Camerun, Johannes Enders, Ibrahim Ferrer, Sheik Arabi Farag, Carlo Fashion, zignorii++, and Edith Salmen.
Premieres and first nights with amongst others: Alfred Schnittke, Bernd Franke, Tristan Murail, Jörg Widmann, Ennio Morricone, Hans-Jürgen von Bose, Masahiro Yamauchi, Norio Fukushi, Wilhelm Killmayer, Gloria Coats, Dieter Acker, Carl Oesterhelt.
Literary-Musical Collaborations
Music/literature evenings with authors and actors such as Frido Mann, Gert Heidenreich, Sylvia Patsch, Senta Berger and Peter Weiß.

Musical collaboration in productions for the Munich Kammerspiele, Residenztheater Munich, Ruhrtriennale, Brandherde Amsterdam, Theatertreffen Berlin, under directors such as Dieter Dorn, Schorsch Camerun and Johan Simons.

She has held a master class at the Nagoya College of Music and teaches both violin and chamber music at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München (University of Music and Performing Arts Munich). She also is dedicated to her students as a private teacher.
